be.....frustrated....

I have been blog surfing lately.

And, I see all the great party ideas and decorating posts and fun recipes and cool crafts.

And, I think to myself......

I can do that stuff.

I have great ideas.

I love cooking and decorating and crafting and parties.

But, I don't have the time or energy for any of it lately.

And it makes me sad.

Carson's party was a swim party at the OC.  And everyone had a great time, but I put as little energy into it as I could.  Because I was just too tired and stressed to want to do more.

It's not like I'm not exercising and eating healthy.

I am.

So, what gives?

Life is good, don't get me wrong......
I'm not complaining about my life.  I guess I'm just frustrated that I don't allow myself to just BE and enjoy it.

It's like I just want to make it through what I have going on each day, so I can get home and do nothing........

hmmmmm........

be {pink}

Last weekend, Carson participated in the Boy Scouts' Pinewood Derby.  His car didn't place, but he did win quite a few of his heats in the beginning.  He had a great time!

He and his dad spent the whole week designing, assembling and painting.  Lots of time with Daddy makes one happy boy.

A few of the fans at the race. :)

Steak and Shake Fun....

I was able to go see this movie recently.  I enjoyed it.  It told a great story, and may or may not have had a happy ending also. ;)

I'm really trying to focus on my {one little word}.......

This weekend, we spent some time with the Johnson Fam.  We had a nice time at 1984..... (or the guys had more of a nice time, I should say).

We had a great meal at Texas Roadhouse!  Corn was the vegetable of choice!

And I got a fabulous manicure.  I'm just a little happy about it!! HA !
This pic should be labeled ~~~~~  BE PINK!

one little word {2013}

My one little word for 2013 is...............................

In 2010, I chose the word HEALTH but kept it to myself.  It was the beginning of a long journey to become a healthy person.  I am still working on it, but I have come such a long way since 2010.

In 2011, I  chose the word LIVE.  I wanted to live each day to the fullest and enjoy life.

In 2012, ORGANIZE was calling my name.  I began a very long list. And I am still working through it.

Now, in 2013 I am choosing BE.

I feel like a have ALWAYS been a person that wishes my life away.  I continually yearn for the next step in life.  I don't want to do that anymore, and this year I will work toward learning to BE and find peace in the everyday moments of my life.

Instead of counting my days toward career changes, BE at school thankful for the positives.

Instead of wishing there could be one more baby, BE with my precious family of 3 1/2 (Ollie Lollie).

Instead of hoping for the weekend, BE in the day to day moments Monday through Friday.

Instead of wondering what the future holds for certain endeavors, BE aware of my thoughts and creativeness that could lead to something amazing.

Instead of wanting the run or workout to be over, BE present- give it all I've got- and BE thankful I am able to run and push my body.

Instead of craving those fatty and sugary foods, BE mindful of how they make me feel and savor the new love I have for healthier foods.

Instead of stressing when the house is not as decorated or organized as I envision, BE aware and grateful for the wonderful home that we love.

Instead of worrying about unknowns and dangers, BE in the Word getting nourishment and comfort from my Jesus and Savior.

"BE still and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!"

Psalm 46:10

That's it..... that is my week.  And quite frankly, they have all become pretty crazy like that.

Not to mention that my work days are filled with craziness.  My schedule is back to back except for my lunch and plan time.......  So, my days just seem full and hectic and busy and tiring.....

I'm not complaining... I know it sounds like I am.  They can be hard, but they aren't really.  It's just life.  The one I actually imagined and dreamed of for so long.  I appreciate the fact that this is what I wanted.

SO, this is why I have chosen the word I did for 2013.......

one little word 2013
coming soon!!

{organize} my thoughts

Sometimes.... my brain gets all jumbled up with thoughts and I feel so overwhelmed... it gives me a literal headache.

I tend to overthink things sometimes...

In the past, I've had a friendship that was a bit one-sided.  I think that I tend to transfer things that happened with that friendship onto some of my current friendships.

I start to think that I'm bothering my friends, and that they really don't want to spend time with me, that I'm just a nuisance to them.

Why. do. I. do. that?

I'm usually an easy going person.  Things don't really hurt  my feelings much.  Don't get me wrong.  I do get my feelings hurt at times.  but not usually.

And it's not even that friends do anything to make me feel that way.  I just start overthinking things.

I need to let go of this.

I need to find a scripture to pray about this.

I need to, quite frankly, start to not care about this.

Because it's ridiculous.  Unless, I do have friends that really do feel that way.....

See what I do?  It's a circle of uncertainty about my friendships that I don't really think should be there.

Am I the only one who feels this way at times?
Am I crazy?

This is really being transparent... So, I don't know if I'm even comfortable with sharing this with the blog world.... but it has been on my mind lately.  I guess I just wanted to get it out of my head.

Like right now.... I'm worried that my friends will read this and think I'm specifically talking about them and think....That Leslie... There she goes being needy again.

Hmmmm..... I think I need prayer.....
or maybe professional help.
or both...

{one little word} 2012

For the last 10 months or so, I've known what my one little word for 2012 needs to be.

But, I have fought choosing it for awhile, because I wanted something that sounded... I don't know... cooler, more sophisticated, deep.  Well, this word kept coming back and hitting me smack dab in the middle of everything I do.

So, my {one little word} for 2012 is........... drumroll please..........................

organize!

I will post a more in depth look at my word soon.  I will continue with my word from 2011 {live}.

I have many thoughts and lists and goals whirling around in my head....

1.01.2012

January First, Twenty-Twelve

I've been working on my {one little word} for 2012.

I'm excited.

I've also been working on my craft room, which happens to go along with my word for 2012.
I can't wait to share pics of the progress so far!!

2.05.2011

{verse 2}

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.  Romans 12:12

a new little word....

I've been struggling with the word I chose.... I know, I'm crazy right?   But the word I chose just hasn't set right with me.  For some reason, I have this nagging feeling that won't go away that my word needs to be different.  I had originally chosen a word, but I changed it.  I don't know why I changed it.  My reasons made sense at the time, but now I can't even remember what they were.

So my word for 2011 is simply.... LIVE.

I know, obvious right???
But, I want my focus on all the things that I mentioned in the previous post to be the same.  Renew for some reason, was pressuring me to become new again in all those areas and I felt like I had to completely become and transform into some Wonder Woman after the year was over.

I realize this may make no sense to anyone, but I feel pressure releasing even as I type these words.  I'm going to LIVE this year.

LIVE in the Word... Focusing on what God's plans for our family and my present and future.  And just learning to BE in Him.

Live for my family.... Focusing on how blessed I am to have them.... Husband, Son, Parents, In-Laws, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Sisters, Brothers, Nieces, Nephews.....

Live for my friends.... I'm so blessed to have a great core group of AWESOME girlfriends of all ages.  They help balance me and let me be myself.

Live in the moment with my free time.... And not waste too much of it watching TV.

Live in an organized home.... getting and keeping it organized would be nice.

Live in good health.... Continue to make healthy choices and grow into making more healthy choices.

Live with my finances.... It's so much easier to live life when finances are how they should be.  I'm glad we have gotten more organized and continue to keep working on it.

Live and enjoy blog time.... I am in the process of a change with the blog, and I have some ideas in the works also to help me focus on LIVING life and not just letting life happen.  I look forward to getting that going soon.

I tend to feel like life is passing me by, and I'm just a spectator... watching as I work, waste time, or stress out.  I want to focus on the moments that make life important and do things that make me happy, healthy, and help me grow as a child of God. wife. mother. daughter. sister. friend. teacher. woman.

There you have it.  I know, you probably think I'm insane.  I decided though, that it's my word.  I have to LIVE with it for a year.  I don't need a word that's stressing me out... What good would that do???

my one little word.... hopefully, will make a big impact on me this year... with no stress! ;)

LIVE

one little word for 2011

So, last year at this time, I was feeling horrible.  I was tired all the time, my clothes were very uncomfortable, and I knew I needed to do something about it.

I hired a trainer and my sister-n-law joined me in a year long process of working out and eating healthier.

I now work out 3-5 times a week and I really miss it when I'm not able to get to the gym for a few days.  I have lost about 11ish inches and 11-12 pounds and 2 pant sizes.  Do I need to lose more?  YES!

BUT, I am so much better than I was a year ago.  I am still striving to eat correctly.  I have such an addiction to food, but I recognize it and I'm determined to conquer it.  When I do get off track and eat poorly, I feel sluggish.  I can tell a big difference when I'm eating the right foods and making healthy choices.

I debated on whether or not I would share this goal on my blog last year.  What if I failed?    But now, looking back... even though I haven't reached the weight goals I've set for myself (yet), I am on the road to where I want to be.  So, that is a good thing and something to be proud of.

Last year I read about choosing a word for the year and using it to grow and improve in an area.   I believe my friend, Jen, did this last year.... That's when I decided I would choose HEALTH as my word and focus on being healthier in 2010.

This year, I'm going to "go public" with my word.  Instead of being scared that I might fail, I'm going to look for the improvements I can make.  Will I probably let myself down and fall short of where I want to be with my goals?  Yes!  But, I won't make any progress toward them if I don't at least try.  My pastor even said today in his sermon--- When you don't have a target and you don't know what you're shooting at, you'll miss every time.  --

I may not hit a bullseye with my goal, but if I at least hit the target somewhere, I'll be closer to where I want to be.....

I'm using the idea from a blogger named Ali Edwards.  You can click here to read more about it.

Basically, you choose a word that you can focus on, meditate on, reflect on throughout your daily life.  A single word that sums up what you want for yourself in 2011.

Quoting Ali----"One little word can have big meaning in your life if you allow yourself to be open to the possibilities. And here’s one thing that is totally interesting: sometimes a word will pop into your brain and it will not make any sense to you right now. Give it some time. Let it percolate a bit. I have often found that our hearts speak to us in very unique ways. Maybe this is a word you need to hear but just aren’t ready for it yet. Again, be open to the possibilities."

She also says to remember that it's YOUR word, nobody else's....  "And what do you do with this one little word?  You live with it. You invite it into your life. You let it speak to you. You might even follow where it leads. There are so many possibilities."

my one little word for 2011 is

       renew  {verb}

  • to make new again; to give new life to; rejuvenate
  • to rebuild
  • to make new spiritually; to regenerate
  • to become new or as new; to grow or begin again
  • to restore
  • to replenish

I feel this word is perfect for what I'd like to accomplish in 2011...

I want to renew my spiritual life in a BIG way.  One of the ways I plan to do this is join the 2011 Siesta Scripture Memory Verse Team.  My friend, Jen, is doing this and when I saw her post her first verse... I decided this would be a good step in the right direction for me as I try to renew my walk with God. Having scripture memorized in my heart can only be a good thing--- Right?

I'll post my first verse that I'll be working on soon.

I want to renew my relationship with my family.  Life gets CRAZY!  And, I tend to stress over very unimportant things and then forget to focus on the positive parts of the day.  My husband and my son deserve more undivided attention than I give them.  This is something I must renew.

I want to renew my finances.  We have begun this process already.  Lately, we just kind of got lazy with things and I've felt like I don't have the control over where we are spending money.  So, we have been and will continue to get the budget in order.  I'm already feeling better as we've started using the "envelopes" again!  ARGHHH!!

I want to renew my free time.  I feel like when I come home from work each day, I spend waste a lot of time watching TV and doing not much of anything.  My goal is to use my time more wisely- much more on that later.

I want to renew my home... seriously... it is so. out. of. control.
MUCH more on that as I make some progress.  I think I made a great start with my last post in Carson's room(s).

I want to renew my blog.  I know that's a little silly.  But, I'm ready for a change and excited to get a new design.

I plan to continue to renew my healthy choices. I continue to grow and make progress with my diet and exercise plan.  I am proud of the progress I've made, and I want to continue growing in this area.

one little word

renew

gives promise for a lot of change and growth

in 2011

Anyone want to join me on this journey?  What's your word?
