t-ball 2010

Carson enjoyed playing another season of t-ball this year.  He was still in the 3-4 year olds, and he was a bit bigger than all the rest of the kids.

They practiced running the bases, and he loved playing fox and rabbit where they chased each other to the base.  Carson was always able to get the rabbit when he was the fox.

Overall, he did a great job this year.  We could see a definite improvement from last year.

He watched the ball while he was in the outfield... for the most part...

He sat in the dugout and waited for his turn to bat.

He knew to run to each base when the ball was hit.

He only played in the dirt a few times... NO dirt angels!

He was so fun to watch as he ran the bases.  He had a La-di-da attitude about the game.  (Sometimes he pranced.)  He was there to have fun, socialize, play a little ball, and EAT SNACK!

Great job Carson!  We are so proud that you wanted to play again this year, you improved, and you had fun with a super attitude!  

Lunch and T-Ball Ends!

Yesterday, Carson and I went to lunch with Tammy, Jen, and Lauren.  We had the best time just relaxing, talking, eating, and laughing.  The kids were so good.  We really missed our two working girls (Cara and Alysia), but we'll get to see them very soon, thankfully.

Before t-ball, Carson picked some flowers for me.  Tammy, look yellow daffodils! 

This was Carson's last t-ball game.  He showed much improvement from his first game. 

1.  He only threw dirt once. (even though it was in a boy's face.)

2.  He knew how to run the bases.

3.  He actually watched the batter to hit the ball, so he could run for the ball.

4.  He knew to throw the ball to first when he got the ball after it was hit.

5. He didn't throw rocks.

6.  He didn't chase birds in the outfield.

7.  His hitting showed improvement.

I was very skeptical about him playing t-ball this year, but he did get to play on a team with other kids.  I am glad he did it, and he definitely grew as a player (HA!)  throughout his short season.  Maybe we'll try soccer next year.

Working Thursday and T-Ball Update

Yesterday, Tammy and I worked on curriculum ALL DAY and we're still not done, but Carson ended up staying with me b/c Grandma Anne was sick.  So at lunch we went to get Chloe and Carson spent the afternoon trying to get at her.  She did sit with him for a while, but he couldn't just leave her alone... so I think I learned that he's not quite ready for a puppy, yet.

Last night, we went to t-ball and Carson played probably the best he's done so far.  This is him on the right running toward first base.

She played against Carson's team.

My only regret is I didn't get a picture of Carson with Tammy... since she was there to see them both.

By the way- notice the New Moon countdown on the right under my blog lists... Keep in mind, I'm excited for the movie, but I can wait b/c I want the summer to go by SLOWLY!

The First Game!

Tonight was Carson's first ever T-Ball game.  It was interesting to say the least.  I was running the video camera and the digital camera b/c Eric was helping in the outfield, so the pictures aren't the greatest.

Carson just got finished filling his glove with dirt.  He kept doing this, and he also kept picking up dirt and throwing it at the kids.

Carson did hit the ball well.  He did a great job.  BUT, he kept running to the wrong place.  Once he got to second, he saw a bird and ran after it.  Then, he went up to the kids playing outfield and joined them for while.

We had a great time at his game.  I did stress quite a bit about him throwing the dirt at other kids- it's just rude.  But, hopefully, next time he'll remember not to.  Eric really enjoyed getting to take him to his first game ever.  A moment I'm sure he'll never forget.  We are very proud of him for playing the game and getting out there with all the kids.  We sure do love our little boy.

To all Carson's aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends out there- Carson's games are the next 3 Thursday nights.  (May 21 & 28, June 4)  Call me for times if you'd like to see a game.  You're all invited of course!

T-Ball After a Full Day

This was a big day for Carson... He had a picnic with Grandma, fed the ducks, played in the park twice, AND went to his first t-ball practice! (all without a nap!)

This was quite an interesting experience!  We walked to the soccer field behind our house where they are having practice- which is really convenient.

When it first started, Carson told the coach that he didn't want to play.  He was just going to watch.

Now he gets up and watches a little closer.  He's pretty social, so we thought he'd want to play with the kids.

Finally, he took a turn at bat, and hit a pretty good one.

After batting practice, they tried running the bases.  He missed first and went straight for second base.  Maybe he'll get it next time. 

Last, they played catch, though Carson wouldn't wear his glove.

At the end of practice, when snack time was announced, Daddy told him he had to put on his glove in order to get snack.  He proudly put it on and picked up his snack.  

(Being motivated by food means he has a little of his Papa in him.)

After practice he played with Caden, a new friend he made during practice.

All in all, he had a good time and did okay.  We hope next time he listens a little better and hopefully we can work with him on bases and holding his glove to prepare him for the next practice and game.
